Blackity

“Blackity” is a wallpaper and textile design first exhibited at Long Gallery Harlem as part of the solo exhibition, Interior Dialogue curated by Jasmine Wahi and Rebecca Jampol. It was created as a critical response to market forces that incentivize Black artists, designers and creators to make work that is accessible to white mainstream demographics that is often at the expense of their ethnic and/or cultural identity expression. Blackity unapologetically rejects the notion that Black, or any artists of color, must choose between authenticity and accessibility.
