Interpolating the Bible verse from the book of Genesis 1:3, which begins “And God said ‘Let there be light,” this work reframes the creation narrative of the world through the lens of Ballroom culture. The work reimagines God as a Black Trans woman, centered in a self-created cosmology that honors the legendary mothers and children of Ballroom and the universe that they created.
